In the Old Testament, you can read about Queen Esther, who was married to King Ahasuerus of Persia, who did not know that his wife was a Jew. Esther, who had been raised by her older cousin, “Mordecai the Jew,” kept in touch with her cousin via a runner who exchanged their secret messages. One of the king’s men hatched a plot whereby all the Jews would be killed. In a plea to Esther for help, Mordecai sent her a message asking her to plead the Jews’ case with the king. The law, under penalty of death, did not allow anyone to approach the king without being summoned by him, so Esther feared doing this.

Mordecai’s next message to Esther was as follows:

“Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”  

Esther finally relented, saying, “…if I perish, I perish.”

Our rights are God-given and “unalienable;” they are not government-given. How can we remain silent while our God-given natural rights and our Constitutionally-recognized civil liberties are taken away? You don’t believe in God? Then stand upon those rights as having been Constitutionally-recognized by men who had personally lived through the tyrannical forces of the days of old, and who wrote the Constitution to protect the rights of citizens, as well as limit the government’s role in our daily lives.

Esther did go to the king, who welcomed her to him, granted mercy to the Jews, had the evil schemer killed, and gave to Mordecai the Jew all that the bad guy had owned.

WE THE PEOPLE are the royalty in the United States of America – that is the way the founders designed it. “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Don’t be silent.
